Mayweather Jr. schools Juan Manuel Marquez in a shutout!

Floyd Mayeather Jr. W UD12 Juan Manuel Marquez

Floyd Mayweather Jr. out boxed and out classed Juan Manuel Marquez over twelve one-sided rounds moments ago in Las Vegas Nevada. Looking like he hadn’t lost a beat in his two years away from the sport, Mayweather boxed from an impregnable defensive stance, and pot-shoted Marquez like he was a journeyman. In Round 2 a quick lead left hook to the chin dropped Marquez hard, and the normally gallant Mexican fighter went into a survival mode he really didn’t come out of for the rest of the fight. Mayweather’s defensive brilliance limited Marquez to just 12 per cent of his punches landed in the bout, and the majority of those that did land were glancing or partially blocked. Mayweather ripped Marquez with a series of left hooks through out the first half of the fight and began mixing in blistering right hands at the mid way point. Mayweather was calculated and took few chances in the bout, but that was what made him so effective. He outpointed Marquez with relative ease to the tune of 120-107, 119-108, and 118-109 scores. Mayweather landed a staggering sixty per cent of his punches in the fight, out landing Marquez 290 punches to 69.

After the bout Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins engaged in a shouting match with Mayweather during his post fight interview. Unable to respond to questions of his next potential opponent, Mayweather became agitated. When he tried to take the microphone from HBO’s Max Kellerman, the interview was abruptly ended.
