Manny Pacquiao will get a mandatory title shot at the winner of the World Boxing Council featherweight title bout between Michael Brodie and In-Jin Chi in March, according to WBC president Jose Sulaiman
Sulaiman said Pacquiao is ?the WBC?s highest contender? and has therefore earned the right to a mandatory title fight against the winner of the rematch between Brodie and In-Jin Chi. In their first meeting, there was a controversy over the scorecards with the fight ultimately being declared a draw.
Sulaiman added that Pacquiao ?is a great honor to the WBC having held our WBC world flyweight championship and then the WBC International super bantamweight title.? Pacquiao is currently rated no. 3 behind Brodie and In-Jin Chi. He was included in the ratings by Sulaiman following a request from his long-time friend, WBC founding secretary general Rudy Salud.
