I ask you that in the wake of numerous reports about Manny Pacquiao’s career.
You’ll be a jerk if you say Pacquiao is not the country’s most famous boxer today. He has become the idol of millions, not only in the Philippines but also in the entire universe. That is because exactly two months ago, on Nov. 16, he scored one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. I refer to Pacquiao’s 11th-round technical knockout of Marco Antonio Barrera, the legend from Mexico City.
Barrera, 29, is an icon because in 60 fights, he lost only twice — both on points. Considered as the best pound-for-pound boxer, he was the people’s world champion until that fateful day in November.
