AMERICAN trainer Freddie Roach took a not-so-concealed swipe at world featherweight king Manny Pacquiao after the flamboyant Filipino champion reneged on his vow to split up with American promoter Murad Muhammad.
In an exclusive overseas telephone interview with The Bulletin, Roach said he could not understand why Pacquiao took an unexpected turnaround about their accusations on Muhammad. ?I stuck my neck out there for him and started the whole thing because he told me Murad was stealing his money. Now they?re saying Manny?s changing his mind to honor the contract? I can?t be a part of it anymore,? said Roach. Roach stressed that Pacquiao, on a number of occasions, approached him and asked for his help regarding the Filipino champion?s previous fight purses. ?I would have never gotten involved in this mess I?m in right now if Manny did not come and ask for my help,? revealed Roach.
