Manny Pacquiao has become notorious for beating up punchers who have the reputation for durability and gameness. In winning the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-bantamweight title in June 2001, Pacquiao mauled a South African who had never suffered a one-sided beating in his storied career. After six rounds, Lehlo Ledwaba?s face looked as if he had been mugged by a pack of felons.
Against rugged Mexican Emmanuel Lucero in July 2003 in Los Angeles, Pacquiao needed one jolting left to his rival?s jaw to force the referee to step in. And in November last year, Pacquiao stood up to the challenge of Marco Antonio Barrera, who came into the ballyhooed bout armed with a menacing reputation. Instead of taking the Filipino lefty to school, it was Pacquiao who brought Barrera to the slaughterhouse. Now, there are reports that says Pacquiao is being lined up to meet Paulie Ayala, a 33-year-old Texan who was once named by The Ring magazine as its Fighter of the Year. Ayala, like Barrera, is a lion-hearted campaigner whose jaw is made of cement.
