January 6, 2004; Just minutes ago, Boxingtalk.com received confirmation that the IBF has ordered its super-bantamweight champion Manny Pacquiao and his mandatory challenger Jose Luis Valbuena to a purse-bid on January 16th. The purse-bid will take place at noon at the IBF’s new offices on 516 Main Street in East Orange, New Jersey. Should Team Pacquiao ignore this purse bid, and fight anybody else other than Jose Luis Valbuena, Pacquiao would be stripped of his title while Valbuena and Israel Vazquez-the next available contender, who like Valbuena is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions-would do battle for the vacant title.
