Manny Pacquiao plans to junk promoter Murad Muhammad and registered manager Marty Elorde when his current contract ends early next year. But he made it clear in an exclusive interview with Viva Sports on Sunday that he would retain Rod Nazario as his business manager because ?he has been good to me.?
In a wide-ranging interview Pacquiao confessed that ?Murad is the problem? in reference to the controversy that erupted over his purse in the November 15 fight against legendary featherweight Marco Antonio Barrera and even his previous fights in the US. Pacquiao claimed that Murad merely showed up on the day of the fight to collect his money and banked on his contract with Pacquiao which earned him big bucks.
Trainer Freddie Roach himself had branded Murad ?a thief? and accused him of stealing from Pacquiao whom he described as ?such a nice kid.? Roach had suggested that Pacquiao break away from Murad but realized that ?it could get dirty? and Pacquiao was not prepared for such an eventuality because ?he is not dirty? pointing out that even when he asks him to ?get a little dirty with an opponent he won?t do it because he is a decent kid.?
