Ace trainer Freddie Roach stressed yesterday that his loyalty is Manny Pacquiao.
?Me and him are fine,? said Roach, who also indicated his readiness to remain as Pacquiao?s trainer provided he is not short-changed and gets his 10 percent off the top of the fighter?s purse, which is the rule and has been followed with all his boxers, including heavyweight champion James Toney, former champion Mike Tyson and the newest star Vitali Klitschko.
In a lengthy telephone conversation with Viva Sports, Roach said Boying Nazario, the son of Pacquiao?s business manager Rod, had called him and asked him ?to stay on the team.?
Roach made it clear that he got involved in the controversy over Pacquiao being cheated by Murad Muhammad because ?Manny asked for help,? adding that ?this is really none of my business, but I was a fighter once and I don?t like such a nice kid being cheated. I want to help Manny.?
