A possible rematch between International Boxing Federation junior featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao and the legendary featherweight Marco Antonio Barrera, who suffered a terrible beating before losing by an 11th-round TKO to the Filipino southpaw last Nov. 15 in San Antonio, Texas loomed yesterday.
Viva Sports learned that a friend of Pacquiao?s trainer Freddie Roach, identified as Lou Pearlman, creator and manager of such fabulously successful groups as Backstreet Boys, ?NSync and O-Town and owner of Trans Continental, is keen on staging a blockbuster fight card in Manila headlined by the Pacquiao-Barrera rematch.
The supporting card will highlight a rematch between the attractive Laila Ali and Jacqueline Frazier-Lyde, the daughters of two of the greatest heavyweight champions Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier who figured in the monumental ?Thrilla in Manila? in October 1975.
