Manny Pacquiao, God of Hellfire: Exits in blaze of glory

Repeat after me, Pacmaniacs:.

“I am not a shellfish. A crab is a shellfish. A lobster is a shellfish. I do not and never have spoken crustacean but I always honor the claws in all my contracts. I just want what’s best for the remainder of Manny Pacquiao’s ring career, and thus by fanatic extension, for myself and my fellow Pachuggers.”

Thus, you have been duly sworn in as a full fledged member of the Pacman Brigade, a worldwide group whose ranks swell on a daily basis. We are more dangerous and powerful than Abu Sayaaf and we seek only war and never clemency.

We now officially list what the Pinoy Idol must do to conclude his already glorious ring career:

1. Completely ignore Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr.’s insane bleating. Donkeys who have swallowed a full bottle of tequila make more sense than this guy does with his braying.

2. Drop all political plans, schemes and maneuvers, leaving it aside until you have the key fights which will have you exit boxing shrouded in even greater glory.

3. These opponents, in this particular order, should be: Miguel Cotto at 145 pounds; Edwin Valero, in what some would call a breather, at 140; the winner of the Nate Campbell-Tim Bradley Aug. 1 fight; Amir Khan in London, only if Khan beats Andreas Kotelnik on July 18 and makes one title defense proving his worth (Coach Roach can pull an Angelo Dundee and revert to your corner, abandoning Khan for just one bout); last but not least, either Money I Need Mayweather, if he is still around, or Sugar Shane Mosley, if he is still around (which he will be to Bernie Hopkins current age of 44).

4. The battle cry will be, Five And Gone!

5. Keep repeating the mantra vis a vis both the M&M Boys, L’il Floyd and Sappy Sugar, the truth that both of them are the “B” side opponents in a fight against Da Pacman.

Next stop, the Hall Of Fame and a full time incursion into the blood and guts of Filipino politics.

And, by then, you can skip the Congressional or other lower offices and jump right into your campaign that will bring you, Jinkee and the kids to Malacanang not as visitors but as residents.

Why bother with political four-rounders, MP? Think big!

The Wild Card here is Juan Manuel Marquez with whom you have a natural trilogy waiting to be fulfilled. Feel free to insert him into your batting order whenever suitable.

Manny, you can take care of Valero and the Soupy-Bradley winner in 2010, Put Khan or someone else if the tyro wobbles in as your early 2011 foe and then save one Last Dance for one of the M&M Boys.

Let both Floyd and Shane keep listening to their arteries harden. You can make them wait because they’ve got nowhere else to go.

That’s the way to finish things up.

Go out as the God of Hellfire like Crazy Arthur Brown used to sing.

And bring them fire.

If I was any of the above mentioned foes, I’d rush out now to buy an asbestos suit.

Pacquiao is coming and Pacquiao is bringing gasoline.
