MANNY PACQUIAO prefers an October 17 fight, and not November 14, as suggested by his promoter Bob Arum.
?November 14 nga ang bigay sa amin pero ang sabi ko sa [October] 17 na lang,? said Pacquiao during Monday night?s launch of the Manila Grand Oriental Casino.
Pacquiao, however, did not explain why he preferred an earlier fight.
Pacquiao?s lawyer, Franklin Gacal, confirmed that Top Rank Promotions has proposed a November 14 bout.
?There was a proposal by [Top Rank chief] Bob Arum na November 14 ang laban, but Manny wants it on October 17,? Gacal said.
Will it be against Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley?
?As far as the terms and conditions ng laban at kung sino ang kalaban, wala pa. Hinihintay pa namin ang proposal from Bob Arum,? Gacal said.
There are indications that Pacquiao will face the 28-year-old Cotto after Arum announced the fight will be on November 14 at the Madison Square Garden. The announcement came after a bloodied Cotto beat Joshua Clottey last week in New York.
Weight is an issue, though, with the Pacquiao camp reportedly asking that the fight be at 143 lb. Cotto?s camp, however, wants it at 145. Cotto fought Clottey at 146.
The 37-year-old Mosley, nevertheless, joined the Pacquiao sweepstakes and made his intentions felt that he wants nobody else but Pacquiao. He even went to the extent of saying that he is the perfect opponent for Pacquiao, not Cotto.
Pacquiao led the launching of the Manila Grand Oriental Casino, inside the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, and owned by the ALC Group of Companies. He was joined by Dan Dia, general manager of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. Pavilion branch, and T. Anthony Cabangon, BusinessMirror publisher, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
