You don?t have to hang around the barnyard to be a henpecked husband.
I am told the Filipino expression is ?under de saya.?
Sure, manly men want to be known as the King of their castle.
Nothing wrong with that as long as you openly, freely and repeatedly acknowledge by words and deeds that the Domestic Queen rules uber alles.
This is where being a humble King goes a long way.
If Pinay hero Gabriela Silang could pick up the fight against Spanish oppression when her husband fell, then imagine what a revolutionary Filipina woman can do these days.
Do I have to keep playing Helen Reddy?s song with that ?I Am Woman Hear Me Roar? refrain?
Come on, guys, our mothers (that includes you too, Manny Pacquiao) taught us and showed us what female supremacy is all about.
In most homes, when a son does something wrong he?s ?just like his father.? When a son does something good, the mother takes a bow and the word is ?Sonny didn?t fall far from the (maternal) tree.?
I think this is a worldwide truism.
Mothers like to say, ?One mother can take care of five children but five children can?t take care of one mother.? Most often, the mothers are right.
What with a big weekend coming up, domestic spies have revealed to me that lovely and talented Jinkee Pacquiao, Megamanny?s Better Half, has revised the much dreaded list that all hubbies, chubby or thin, have come to respect.
Don?t ask me how I got it but herewith, in another intergalactic exclusive, is Pacwife?s Honey Do List:
JINKEE PACQUIAO?S HONEY DO LIST
1. Get on that plane from Manila Friday so that pest Uncle Bob will stop blasting our phones every five minutes. He may be your Tio Roberto but he?s not mine.
2. No more weekend sabong with Chavit and those other guys.
3. Make a nice speech and be gracious at the Boxing Writers Dinner. Don?t make remarks such as, ?This chicken is tougher than Erik Morales.?
4. If Mrs. Arum is there, tell her I said her first name should be Lovely, not Lovee. I?ve told, you honey, that kind of sugar goes a long way.If I hear of any more sabong with Chavit, you?ll get pecked worse than of those fighting roosters, trust me.
5. Don?t say at the dinner, ?Floyd Mayweather Sr., couldn?t be here tonight because Barnum & Bailey Circus is performing tonight over at Coney Island.? That may be true but I don?t want you disturbing this ?Mayweather Mafia.? That just sounds scary, I mean De La Hoya and that nice Ricky Hatton boy did not have any Mafia, did they?
6. When you fly back home Monday, reconsider those political plans. I don?t wish to see my husband and father of our children go into a funk like you did when Dazzling Darlene Antonino-Custodio spanked you at the polls. Be content to be the Pambasang Kamao now and put your toe into those murky political waters after you beat Mayweather, Mosley, Cotto and any of these other suckers.
7. Playing sabong with Chavit is totally banned, did I mention this?
8. In your acceptance speech at the BWAA, give a big thank you to all the Americans who have greatly supported you and say something nice about that Indonesian kid, Barack Obama. Then finish by praising Michelle Obama and call her ?the real boss with the Tabasco sauce.? The kids and I want to check out the White House as we are getting bored with the constant Malacanang visits. Oh, you could mention how we all love ?Auntie Gloria,? that would be nice.
9. Do not be going up to those parts of The Bronx or Brooklyn where they conduct illicit sabong or I will scratch your eyes out. Isn?t boxing savage enough?
10. Shopping reminder, honey: a little blue box from Tiffany?s with something sparkling is always appreciated by your First Lady. Btw, Tiffany?s is a one minute walk from your hotel. Uncle Bob and Aunt Lovee can direct you.
11. If the little blue box is dazzling enough, I will let you play sabong with Chavit next weekend. But only then! Better you should play sabong than play politics against their oligarchic political machines which are rife with corruption.
12. When you get home, my next Honey Do List will be ready.
