Allanic tries to revive career against Indonesian prospect

SINCE returning to the ring a year ago, ALA Boy Robert Allanic (17-5-2, 9 KOs) hasn?t had much success in his last three fights, with two draws and a loss.

Despite not living up to expectations, Allanic gets another chance to revive his shaky career as he will face undefeated and highly-rated Indonesian Daud Yordan (23-0, 17 KOs) on June 27 in Pontianak, Indonesia for the vacant interim World Boxing Organization Oriental featherweight crown.

?His career has been a bit of a rollercoaster. He was one of the prospects but sometimes he didn?t meet everyone?s expectations. We believe that this is his chance to resurrect his career. This will be his biggest test. It will be a make-or-break fight for him,? ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu in an interview.

In his return bout last July 26?his first fight since breaking his arm in a motorcycle accident? the 23-year-old Allanic suffered a disappointing loss to unheralded Leonardo Doronio.

Cut

He then had two technical draws in his next two fights to unknown fighters Carlo Magale and Joel Consulta. He got cut in the eye in both fights.

?It was an accident. I got knocked down in the final round but I immediately stood up but he already earned enough points,? said Allanic of his upset loss from Doronio.

But this time Allanic, a former amateur boxing standout, will try his best to mend his boxing career by beating Yordan, one of the prospect fighters of Golden Boy Promotions.

Yordan is being tipped to follow in the footsteps of his countryman and World Boxing Association featherweight champion Chris John.

?This will be an exciting fight. I?ve been training hard and I will do my best to bring the belt here in the Philippines,? he said.
