International Boxing Federation junior featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao?s business manager Rod Nazario yesterday debunked reports that US promoter Murad Muhammad had been paid $700,000 as the Filipino southpaw?s purse for the fight against featherweight king and ?People?s Champion? Marco Antonio Barrera last Nov. 16.
?That?s not true and Manny (Pacquiao) and I know it,? said Nazario, who stressed that they are aware of how much Murad made but declined to indicate the amount.
?We expect him (Murad) to get something out of it, but it is definitely not the kind of money people are speculating about. These are all gimmicks.?
Nazario said he has been besieged by individuals wanting to see him to discuss Pacquiao?s plans and wishing to serve as agents of the hottest fighter in the business today.
