A third fight between Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales? That may be an afterthought now.
Manny Pacquiao’s 11th-round technical knockout victory over Barrera (57-4, 40 knockouts) on Saturday was one of the biggest newsmakers of the year in boxing. After his loss, Barrera admitted he will have to talk with his family and Golden Boy Promotions about whether he will ever fight again.
“I know that there was some thinking about the third fight for next year if we both kept winning, but now I don’t know,” Morales said. “We’ll just have to wait to see how his loss changes things. For now, all I’m thinking about is winning a title at super featherweight and then see what happens after I do that.”
