MANILA, Philippines – The House of Representatives on Monday failed to hold session for lack of quorum.
The session was supposed to start at 4 p.m. but only few lawmakers were present on the floor. At least 132 members should be present to constitute a quorum.
When the roll call was finally called at 5:10 p.m., only 131 congressmen showed up, or two short of the required 133 members to constitute a quorum.
Reports have said that some 50 congressmen watched the Pacquiao fight in the United States; 25 were attending the Palarong Pambansa in Leyte; and 10 others were with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for her Egypt trip.
