Moments after the most devastating loss of his long and glorious career, his head no doubt still throbbing from the pounding he received, Marco Antonio Barrera reached out to his new promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, who had stepped onto the ring apron to console his fighter, and started to apologize.
“Please forgive me,” he said in Spanish. “I’m sorry I lost.”
