The feeling of animosity towards Manny Pacquiao is starting to consume Ricky Hatton.
With two weeks remaining before they get it on at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Hatton said in his blog Saturday that while the Filipino pound-for-pound king is ?a decent bloke,? things will turn nasty come fight night.
?We?re not friends or anything like that,? said Hatton from Sin City where he has camped out since March 31.
?This is the best fight that can be made in boxing and it is going to be a terrific occasion. A lot has been made of how civil things have been between Pacquiao and myself but that isn?t going to make any difference on May 2.?
Pacquiao and Hatton have been very careful with the choice of words they use when interviewed and only their two trainers ? Freddie Roach for Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Sr. for Hatton ? have been dishing out quotable quotes in the run-up to the fight.
Hatton is known for his manhandling of even the most skillful and fleetfooted of foes but has become more notorious when ranged against aggressive opponents such as Pacquiao.
Hatton said his edge in size and power ? plus his being comfy at 140 lbs ? will spell Pacquiao?s doom.
Pacquiao doesn?t believe Hatton will succeed in exploiting this supposed advantages as he will rely heavily on his lightning-quick reflexes to befuddle the ultra-aggressive Briton.
