SACRAMENTO — A motley group of Filipinos led by a Catholic priest extends the welcome mat for Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) when he holds his public workout in San Antonio, Texas.
Pacquiao, the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) super bantamweight was due to arrive today in Texas from Los Angeles after days of hard training at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood. He faces Marco Antonio Barrera — considered the best featherweight on the planet today — in a 12-round non-title bout at San Antonio’s Alamodome Saturday night (Sunday afternoon, Philippine time).
