An obviously relieved Marco Antonio Barrera has welcomed the clean bill of health given him by specialists at the Houston Medical Center.
The doctors? clearance allows the featherweight king, known as the ?People?s Champion,? to obtain a license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, clearing the last obstacle to his 12-round, nontitle fight against International Boxing Federation junior featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao at the Alamadome in San Antonio, Texas on Nov. 15.
Barrera, who was driven out of his Big Bear training camp last week because of the raging fires in California and had to move to San Antonio to continue training, was required to undergo a battery of tests by Dick Cole of the Texas Boxing Commission last Monday, after a report that Barrera underwent brain surgery in 1997 and had metal implants in his skull, surfaced.
