Marco Antonio Barrera stuck

Stick a fork in ’em, he is done.

Marco Antonio’s career as a world-class boxer was been expired for quite a while now, but last night’s defeat at the hands of a stronger and faster Amir Khan punctuated the point.

Khan’s star might rise, as Barrera burns out.

Barrera could of walked away from the sport on March 17, 2007 when he lost a unanimous decision to Juan Manuel Marquez. There and then, two years ago, if Barrera walks away from boxing after a hotly contested defeat, his legacy would have been untarnished.

But we are talking about boxing and very few fighters exit at the right moment.

So Barrera during the last two years has continued fighting. He soiled his reputation by fighting conservatively avoiding a knockout en route to a decision loss against Manny Pacquiao, dumped promoter Oscar De La Hoya, and signed a five-year promotional deal with Don King.

Yet even being humbled by a mediocre boxer such as Amir Khan, Barrera had a trunk full of excuses for his defeat. Watch the video below and see Barrera embarrass himself.

Fortunately for Barrera and other icons who hang onto their gloves a little too long, as times passes and they finally hag them up, historians and fans tend to forget those raggedy, stubborn final years of poor performances and instead remember the glory days.

Forget Amir Khan, the head butt, Barrera’s excuses and any other critique of Marco, instead click play below and remember the Baby Faced Assasian at his best.

WAR BARRERA!
