MEMBERS of Team Cebu City (TCC) boxing are hopeful for a succesful stint as they are set to join 25 other teams in the 1st Smart/ Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (Abap) Area Boxing Tournament on March 22 to 27 in Ormoc City and Kananga.
TCC Boxing will be sending 18 boxers, one referee, one trainer and three officials to the weeklong tournament jointly hosted by Ormoc City Mayor Eric Codilla and his brother Elmer, who is also the mayor of Kananga.
The Cebu City Council, through councilors Sylvan ?Jack? Jakosalem and Raul ?Yayoy? Alcoseba, has allotted P50,000 from the annual sports development fund for the team.
Cebu City?s biggest threat is the local boxers from the Samar, Leyte and Biliran provinces who are going to use their homecourt advantage in going to this competition.
TCC?s will be bannered by Dave Pe?alosa, the gold medalist of the Bacolod City?s National Abap championship. RCM
The tournament is just one of the many events lined up by the new Abap leadership lead by its chairman Manny Pangilinan and president Ricky Vargas.
The tournament is open to aspiring kids with age category from 11 to 12 years old, to the youth class which is under 19 years old.
