Braveheart pugs show brave hearts

THE Braveheart bantamweights put up an exciting show for the Cebuano fight fans as they won impressively in the undercard of the Gerry Pe?alosa vs. German Meraz fight last Saturday at the Cebu Coliseum.

Rolando ?Smooth Operator? Magbanua spoiled the visit of Mexican warrior Jose Angel ?Bocho? Cota with a sixth-round KO to win the interim World Boxing Organization Oriental bantamweight title.

Both boxers traded heavy blows in the first round that had boxing fans inside the coliseum standing and cheering wildly. Magbanua got the better end of the exchange as he landed the more solid blows, opening a cut in Cota?s right eyebrow in the third round.

Magbanua continued to punish Cota in the next few rounds until the Mexican?s trainer threw in the towel to stop the fight. Magbanua improved to 12 wins with seven stoppages, while Cota dropped to an 8-3 win-loss slate.

On the other hand, Jundy ?Pretty Boy? Maraon (13-0-1, 10 KOs) dethroned Jason Egera (10-2, 5 KOs), taking his WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight crown with a third round knockout win.

Egera was knocked out cold after absorbing a devastating left by Maraon.

Glenn ?The Rock? Porras (20-2, 15 KOs) also scored a stoppage against Daothon Sithsoey.
