Pe?alosa?s gift to fans

GERRY ?The Fearless? Pe?alosa assured his fans of a convincing win on Saturday night as it could be his final bout in Cebu or even in the Philippines.

Pe?alosa, who started his professional boxing career in Cebu City in 1989, assured he would return the favor to the Cebuano fans who have supported him in his long career by giving them a jaw-dropping boxing showcase against former Mexican champion German ?Panteonero? Meraz.

?I?m going to make sure that I?m going to win convincingly in this fight and impress the audience and make them say ?wow?,? Pe?alosa said during the press conference of the ? Battle of the Bantamweights? fight card yesterday at the Cebu Grand Hotel.

?Maybe I can?t fight here anymore. Maybe this will be my last fight in Cebu and the Philippines .?

Pe?alosa warned Meraz that he has to give his all when they step in the ring because the 36-year-old two-division champion will be showcasing one of his finest performances.

?Fight your best because I?m going to fight my best. May the best man win,? said Pe?alosa. Meraz, 22, guaranteed that when he faces Pe?alosa he will give him a run for his money.

?I have come here to fight and I?m ready to do my best. I?m mentally fit and physically ready to fight,? said Meraz.?I don?t expect a knockout but I?ll give him a good fight.?

This fight serves as a tune-up for Pe?alosa?s title bout against undefeated WBO super bantamweight titleholder Juan Manuel Lopez on April 24.

Pe?alosa said that if he comes out victorious against Lopez and captures his third division, then he will be ready to hang his gloves for good.

?After April, I?ll think about my career and if I?ve achieved my third world division then I?ll be satisfied with my boxing career,? said Pe?alosa.

Also scheduled to fight in this boxing event co-promoted by SGG?s Sammy Gello-ani and Brave Heart Boxing Promotions Vice Gov. Manny Pi?ol is undefeated Rolando Magbanua, who will clash with Jose Angel Cota of Mexico for the interim WBO Oriental bantamweight crown.

WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight champion Jason Egera will also face unbeaten Jundy Maraon, while the hard-hitting Glenn Porras will battle Thai Daothon Sithsoey.

This boxing extravaganza will be shown delayed on Studio 23 at 9 p.m. this Saturday and at 10 a.m. on ABS-CBN the following day.
