International Boxing Federation junior featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao is slowly stepping up training for his planned Nov. 15 war with featherweight king Marco Antonio Barrera in what is being billed as “A People’s Championship.”
However, Pacquiao said yesterday that he won’t start sparring until he gets to trainer Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles by Sept. 25.
In a long distance telephone conversation with Manila Standard from his home in General Santos City, Pacquiao said he was doing roadwork every morning and punching the heavy bag and working on the mitts in the afternoon with local trainer Buboy Fernandez, who has also learned some of the training regimens from Roach.
