Arum wants Valero, Mayweather for Pacquiao

AS MANNY ?Pacman? Pacquiao?s May 2 mega-fight with British boxing sensation Ricky ?The Hitman? Hatton at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas draws near, Top Rank big boss Bob Arum is slowly thinking of future fights for the Pinoy puncher.

And one of the prospects is Venezuelan knockout artist Edwin Valero.

Top Rank recently signed Valero and according to Arum, there will be a possible Valero vs. Pacquiao fight in the future.

?I signed Valero, who is fighting Antonio Pitalua in April in Mexico. We want to get him a couple more fights and we think he will be ready to fight Manny,? Arum said in an interview with boxingtalk.com.

Valero recently visited Gen. Santos to attend Pacquiao?s 30th birthday bash and also had a stopover in Cebu City. During a press conference in Cebu, he said he wants to have a fight with the Filipino boxing superstar.

The 27-year-old Venezuelan warrior is undefeated in 24 fights, and all his wins did not go the distance.

Aside from Valero, Arum is also open to a blockbuster brawl between Pacquiao and retired former pound-for-pound No.1 ?Pretty Boy? Floyd Mayweather Jr.

?I can?t speak for Mayweather. He has been gone a long time. If he wants to do it, he needs to have his people tell us that. I don?t know if he has an injury that he is hoping to heal or if he even wants to fight,? said Arum.

Mayweather Jr. retired last year with an unblemished 39-0 record after giving Hatton his first loss in 2007. He also defeated Oscar de la Hoya in 2007.
