Manny can beat Hatton ? Lainez

Manny Pacquiao will beat Ricky Hatton with the same ease he disposed of David Diaz and Oscar De La Hoya, said a keen boxing observer yesterday.

Moy Lainez, who has watched countless world championships and had followed the careers of great Filipino champions, said the Briton?s daredevil style will bring out the best in Pacquiao when they collide on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“Hatton will come in and that?s what Manny likes,” said Lainez, who is a TV boxing analyst and a close associate of former Pacquiao chief handler Rod Nazario.

“Manny won?t go after Hatton because he?ll be there to be hit and like what he did to Diaz and De La Hoya, Manny will just spin his way around Hatton,” said Lainez, who was at ringside when Pacquiao fought Emmanuel Lucero, Marco Antonio Barrera (first fight), and Erik Morales.

Since Lainez believes that it is remote that Hatton will score an upset, Pacquiao will be better off staying away from the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and recently-crowned welterweight king Shane Mosley.

“The styles of these fighters are difficult to deal with and hard to beat,” Lainez noted.

While Mayweather has remained retired, talks are rife that the Michigan-bred puncher will soon announce his comeback and challenge the winner of the Pacquiao-Hatton clash in a megabuck matchup.

Mosley has entered the equation following his surprisingly easy disposal of the granite-chinned Antonio Margarito last week at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“If I were Manny, I would just remain at 140 lbs (super-lightweight/junior-welterweight) and call out the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez for a third fight and even Venezuelan knockout king Edwin Valero,” Lainez said.
