Don’t Blame Margarito, He Did Not Bandage Himself!

I need to read the report presented by the commission for me to make a solid comment.

Before I do, I could tell you that using tape like it was published to hurt your rival, is absolutely unacceptable and should be strongly punished. It is a disgrace and a black eye for boxing.

Bandaging was recommended and allowed to protect the hands of boxers, but absolutely not to hurt the rival. Commissions have been very careful about that even by not allowing any tape on the knuckles.

However Margarito did not bandage himself,,,,,,,,, he was bandaged by his trainer or some other criminal minded person. Boxers do not care about the bandaging as long as it is comfortable ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

They extend their hands to their trainers for being bandaged and you can see many of them even talking to other people when they are being taken care of that.

In fact, boxers who have had different trainers have been bandaged differently, because every trainer does his bandaging his own way. I was a boxer for a little more than 5 years in my youth and I was bandaged by so many different people, who did it always different, but I don?t remember ever noticing precisely how each one did it, but to understand that you certainly must be a boxing knowledgeable person ,,,,,,,,,, and unfortunately, there are not many in our industry.

Under those circumstances , Margarito can not be signaled as guilty, BUT THE TRAINER SHOULD, for sure and with no excuse- I am a little shy about giving my opinion as it was not a WBC fight and I don?t want others to tell me to mind my own business.

If I was Margarito, I would appeal such an arbitrary suspension against him and I would go all the way in my defense ,,,,,,,,, I respect the boxing authorities definitely and I support all valid suspensions, if they respect ours ,,,,,,,, here is the question …………

This grave violation of the rules can not be allowed to let go without a very strong action, but it should be against who did it, and not against who has no direct responsibility, unless he accepts that he was aware of such action and accepted it.
