Not many boxing pundits gave the Filipino ring idol much of a chance against a bigger and stronger Oscar. Some went as far as calling this fight a farce, because of a mismatch in size. I read an article called “A gunfight at the no chance saloon” referring to Manny’s chances in this fight. I personally saw no scenario in which Pac man could remain on his feet after a twelve round fight with Oscar.
As it turned out it was a complete mismatch with Oscar having no chance in this fight. The only semi competitive round was the first one in which De La Hoya pressed the action, while he still believed he was a stronger man. Starting from the second frame on it was all Pacquiao gliding effortlessly around the ring, darting in and out, throwing sharp combinations: right jab, right hooks and a patented left hand right down the middle that could not miss it
