?The Boxing Bookie? Advises Richard Schaefer to Slow Down

I understand that people can tend to get ahead of themselves with excitement from time to time.

Keeping secrets and ground-breaking thoughts to ones-self can seem quite excruciating for most being that these individuals most probably want others to feel their same excitement. Unfortunately when it comes to boxing, the vision of a fight sometime down the road can take the sheen and shine off of the current prize fight at hand.

It?s been apparent in recent times that Golden Boy head honcho, Richard Schaefer has made comments in regards to De la Hoya fighting Ricky Hatton sometime next year in addition to a proposal for the retired Floyd Mayweather Jr. to do battle with Shane Mosley.

These are statements that I find a bit premature and out of place being that the main focus for GBP this fall should be Hopkins-Pavlik & De la Hoya-Pacquiao.

With the general public?s perception that boxing tends to be full of corruption and even worse? ?fixed? from time to time, anything pointing to De la Hoya?s future match-ups while seemingly overlooking the current fight at hand might seem a bit fishy.

Fishy like a pile of rancid, farmed, hormone-injected, three thousand salmon per square foot type of situation?

While I?ve come to envision an extremely tough and tightly contested battle for the ?Golden Boy? this December 6, there?s no reason to look past this fight to what could be perceived as bigger and better things.

This is just a friendly word of advice for the business mogul as some fans still need to be coerced into buying this ?Dream Match? and it doesn?t help when future fights perceived to already be in place get mentioned.

PS. Does anybody find it disturbing when Floyd Mayweather Jr. gets mentioned as an opponent for anyone? From all accounts, the man is retired from the sport of boxing. Retired. It?s a true rarity to see fighters hang up the gloves with their senses intact and to attempt to jeopardize this occurrence is very dangerous.
