Filipino boxer Jason Pagara retained his Asia Pacific Youth lightweight belt via technical knockout, pummeling Thai journeyman Kongdej Sithtrajtrakan in the undercard of the WBO Night of Champions Saturday.
The referee was forced to halt the fight with some 40 seconds remaining in Round 4 as the fleet footed Pagara battered the hapless Thai to the ropes.
Before the fourth-round stoppage, Pagara decked Sithtrajtrakan with a left to the body in Round 1.
The Filipino lightweight also scored big hits in the second and third rounds, nearly knocking down the Thai in the process.
With the win, Pagara improved his record to 15-1, with 8 knock outs, while Sithtrajtrakan fell to 17-16.
Set to fight in the main feature are Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista and Donnie “Ahas” Nietes.
Bautista will defend his WBO Intercontinental title against Eden “Anestesista” Marquez while Nietes will fight Eddy “Torito II” Castro to retain his WBO mini-flyweight crown.
