Moments ago Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao and representatives from both Golden Boy and Top Rank Promotions held a conference call to announce Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao for Dec. 6 in Las Vegas!
The fight that has been the subject of so much discussion in the last few months is now official. On an international media conference call held Thursday, Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank Promotions made it official: Oscar De La Hoya will face pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao in his final fight Dec. 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada on HBO pay-per-view. The bout has been a hot topic as of late, with many feeling the size difference (Pacquiao will move to 147 pounds after having just one fight at 135 pounds) makes this match up a peculiar one. However it is that same intrigue that will have many fans tuning in. ?I think people are going to be surprised when we?re standing next to each other,? De La Hoya added. ?Size isn?t going to be that much of a difference. Manny has a relentless style and I know how fast he is. This fight is really going to be a challenge for me.?
?I know some people say this will be a really easy fight for Oscar,? a confident Pacquiao said. ?but I always do my job in the ring and do my best. I think I can beat De La Hoya. I think I am younger and faster and also believe I am stronger than him. I think I can beat him the way I beat Diaz in my last fight.?
