Oscar De la Hoya is the ultimate target for most boxing fans.
He?s easy to despise being that many of his supporters are and used to be women, his demeanor is perceived as passive, and he?s always so politically correct. Fight fans eventually grow irritated hoping that he?ll say or do something crazy.
I for one thoroughly enjoyed his whole ?photoshop? picture episode as it seemingly showed that Oscar is not that different than the average crazed person out there today.
You know? the human side to the ?Golden Boy?.
In any case, for those of you that haven?t noticed, De la Hoya is a prize fighter that gets punched in the face for a living. That makes him more man and a bit crazier than most of you reading this right now. He is a fighter at heart and he?s not that much different than most men deemed as ?tougher? or more ?street? than the rest of the boxing pack today.
Remember? Ricardo Mayorga?
This is why I am predicting that December will not be the last time we see the Hall-of-Fame fighter lacing up leather. There?s just too much on the line and too much within Oscar himself to go out on this note against Manny Pacquiao.
The entire scenario and build-up couldn?t be more perfect.
De la Hoya takes a fight against Manny Pacquiao in December, a fight that will most definitely have the ?Golden Boy? in perhaps one of his few ?heel? or ?bad guy? roles. He brutally disposes of the Filipino icon which incenses most boxing fans being that he?s obviously the bigger man.
Somewhere in the earlier part of 2009 hopefully the whole Margarito-Williams controversy will be settled in the ring as there is some unfinished business between the two.
Should Margarito come out of this whole debacle as the 147 pound kingpin, the stage has been set and gotten even more juicy for a De la Hoya-Margarito super bout.
There have been plenty of boxing events deemed as having been based on ?pride?, this is one that would actually have some truth behind it all?
End of story.
