Manny Pacquiao will finally get some first-hand information on what?s in store for him if he gets to face Oscar dela Hoya in December in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao arrived in Los Angeles Monday evening and will not waste any of his precious time being briefed about the results of the initial talks between the two camps.
Tuesday after lunch, a private plane provided by his promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, will pick up Pacquiao at LAX and take him straight to Las Vegas.
Pacquiao?s chief trainer, Freddie Roach, who also has a say in choosing the opponent, should join the trip, along with the boxer?s legal counsel, Jeng Gacal.
As soon as they hit Vegas they will sit down with Arum who has been silently negotiating with dela Hoya?s representative, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaeffer.
Pacquiao said Monday evening, shortly before he flew out of Manila, that he doesn?t have any idea yet what?s in store for him if he fights dela Hoya.
?I have no idea yet,? said Pacquiao as he left his room at the Sheraton Hotel where he took a brief rest after attending President Arroyo?s State of the Nation address.
?That?s why I?m going there to meet Bob Arum,? said Pacquiao who refused to confirm any of the reports that have come out the last few days regarding the dela Hoya fight.
?In the next few days you will know,? he said.
Joining Pacquiao in the trip were his wife, Jinkee, and their children, his business manager Eric Pineda and close friend Luis ?Chavit? Singson, the former Ilocos Sur governor.
Previous reports said Golden Boy has already offered Pacquiao a guaranteed purse of $10 million and a share of the pay-per-view sales but the Pinoy camp wants more.
Roach thinks Pacquiao, the best pound-for-pound fighter today, deserves more if he faces dela Hoya, the king of pay-per-view who is fighting for one last time.
