Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said Philippine ring icon Manny Pacquiao has confirmed his visit Bacolod Thursday and said he hopes the people of Bacolod will receive him in the same way that they did during his last visit to the city.
Pacquiao won his fourth world championship belt June 28 in Las Vegas. He is the first Asian to achieve such distinction.
Leonardia said they plan to take the boxing champion on a parade in Bacolod as they did in July 2006, to give Bacole?os a chance to see him in person.
The parade will start at 3 p.m. from Goldenfields to Araneta, Libertad to Burgos markets, Shopping area to Sto. Ni?o stop in Banago, SM City, Central Market, Rizal Elementary School and the downtown area where a program will be held at City Hall, he added.
Leonardia said he informed Iloilo Mayor Jerry Tre?as that they are trying to arrange for Pacquiao to also pass Iloilo City which was badly hit by Typhoon Frank.*CGS
