Amicable Talks Leading ‘Nowhere To Run’–Campbell-Guzman–To Reality For Showtime!

?Friendly discussions? are ongoing between the promoters of triple-belted lightweight champion Nate Campbell and two-time world champ Joan Guzman, informed sources tell Boxingconfidential.com.

It is believed that Campbell co?promoter Don King demanded three options on the undefeated Guzman and that Sycuan, promoter for the Dominican Dandy, offered only one.

?There is room for a meeting of the minds,? a source told Boxingconfidential.com. ?King takes the reasonable position that he is the one who put the time and money, along with Terry Trekas, into getting Nate into the situation where he got a mandatory against Juan ?Baby Bull? Diaz. It was King who won the purse bid for that fight, staged in Cancun and saw Campbell bring home the bacon by battering the previously undefeated Diaz all over the ring within a bullring.

?King also says, and this is also correct, that Guzman is now in the enviable position of challenging a guy who has three of the four belts, the only other which is the WBC and that will be contested June 28 between Manny Pacquiao and champ David Diaz. King does not want to come up empty should Guzman win it.?

The aptly-titled bout ?Nowhere To Run,? will be screened by Showtime which is considering a possible change in date from Sept. 6 to Sept. 13 or to Oct. 4.

?Look for the parties to work this out within a few days. It looks like neither side wants a purse bid and the WBO is keeping them on a short leash.?([email protected])
