What?s wrong with this picture? Or should I say lack of pictures?
Manny Pacquiao and trainer Freddie Roach spent Wednesday in San Diego hyping Pacman?s June 28 Las Vegas challenge of WBC lightweight champion David Diaz.
Where was Diaz? Either training or sitting on his keester in Chitown. Both Pacman and Roach griped to promoter Bob Arum about why they went to San Diego and Diaz skipped the training interruption.
Back to the negative photo sitiation. Respected Pinoy sportswriter (my pal) Homer Sayson lives in the Windy City. All he wanted to do was to go Diaz?s gym, snap some pictures and send them to Philboxing.com, that great site, and to a Filipino newspaper.
The publicist for Diaz, the efficient Bernie Bahrmasel, told Sayson it was a no go.
I can?t believe Arum would OK this not with ticket sales lagging and the continual need to feed the publicity machine for PPV TV.
Sayson?s regular beat is the NBA and he has no problem getting access to Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett.
But he can?t snap some harmless gymnasium pix of Diaz?
