I don?t understand.
Well actually I do? somewhat, sort of.
The thinking is that Juan Manuel Marquez just came off of a thrilling twelve round bout with Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao. It took place on HBO Pay-Per-View earlier this year in March successfully garnering about 400,000 purchases. Therefore, it translates into Marquez?s viability as a legitimate Pay-Per-View attraction, am I not correct?
On the other side of the coin we have Joel ?El Cepillo? Casamayor. His most recent bout to date was his thriller with Australian brawler Michael ?The Great? Katsidis. The bout was filled with plenty of sustained action as Casamayor utilized his craft in order to stop the young beast in the tenth round of their battle. The fight itself took place on HBO?s ?Boxing After Dark? series and garnered over 1.2 million viewers.
With those two factors playing a role, I suppose it might not be a complete disaster should a bout between Marquez & Casamayor take place on HBO Pay-Per-View.
Or will it?
As a hardcore fight fan there are some fights that I will purchase and some that I will choose to pass on. The only way this fight becomes must see television is if the undercard is stacked to all hell which is something I?m not sure is possible. I guess we?ll see how it all unfolds as watching two veteran counter punchers mix it up isn?t something to get riled up about.
