The Boxing Herald Exclusive Interview with Promoter Gary Shaw
Boxingherald.com sat down briefly with Gary Shaw and got a quick update on his stable, and what he has coming up. Shaw tells BH that a fourth fight between the WBC super bantamweight title holder Israel Vasquez and former champ Rafael Marquez is indeed in the works as we speak!
BH ? Thanks for joining Boxingherald.com Gary.
GS ? My pleasure
BH ? Firstly, talk about Timothy Bradley, the new WBC welterweight champ.
GS ? Well I give all of the credit to Timothy, he did what he had to do. I also want to give a lot of credit to the WBC for appointing the types of judges that should have been appointed. Anytime a fighters goes overseas to Europe and doesn’t knock the fighter out, and still comes back with the win, you have to give all of the credit to the judges who judged that fight.
BH ? Vic Darchinyan will be fighting Dimitri Kirilov on August 2nd. Talk about that fight.
GS ? Darchinyan is in for a tough fight against Kirilov. They both fight the same style of fight, so it’s going to be bombs away. Hopefully Vic comes out victorious.
BH ? If Vic is victorious will he get his rematch against Nonito Donaire?
GS ? Yes, if Vic wins his fight he will be deserving of a rematch with Nonito Donaire.
BH ? Will Nonito Donaire be on the same card as Vic Darchinyan’s next fight in August?
GS ? Yes, I am working on that right now. It’s in the works for sure.
BH ? James Kirkland squares off against Eromosele Albert. I think that’s going to be a tough fight.
GS ? It’s a tough fight, but I have all the confidence in the world in Kirkland and his management. Kirkland agreed to take the fight, and I think it will be a good fight.
BH ? Can you give us an update on Rafael Marquez?
GS ? I am just waiting to hear from Frank Espozito, and Sycuan and myself would love to do the fourth fight. There is a million dollars on the table for both fighters.
BH ? Do you have a target date that you would like this 4th fight to take place on?
GS ? I am looking at sometime in October or November.
