I?ve often wondered why the US Postal Service does not honor living people on its stamps.
There should?ve been a Cassius Clay stamp in 1960 after the Rome Olympics. Then the USPS could?ve come out with a Muhammad Ali stamp when the kid from Louisville changed his name.
Can you imagine a fearsome stamp with Sonny Liston or the young George Foreman looking at you menacingly. Or they could?ve had a Mike Tyson stamp and subtitle it with my old phrase, ?No robe. No socks. No mercy.?
There are no such restrictions in the Philippines. And so Pinoy idol Manny Pacquaio is being honored with a series of stamps.
It?s been a long time since anyone ?licked? the Pacman but now his legion of fans will be able to truthfully state, ?I licked Manny.?
