Due to WBO super featherweight champion Joan Guzman?s prolonged visa problems, his mandatory title defense against Amazing Alex Arthur has been postponed for either a fortnight or one month. The title bout was set for May 3 at the Meadowbank Arena in Arthur?s hometown of Edinburgh with Setanta Sports televising across the United Kingdom.
?Guzman?s immigration problems was a terrible snafu,? a source said, ?but evidently it has all been cleared up and there will be no problem when the champ flies into Scotland. With the uncertainty, though, Setanta naturally could not hold the May 3 date. Frank Warren and the TV people are looking for a two, three or, at the most, four week postponement.?
Given that governmental red tape caused the problem, WBO President Paco Valcarcel agreed to having the title bout rescheduled.
