Juan Manuel Marquez is flying in today hoping to land a third fight with Manny Pacquiao.
?He thinks he deserves a rematch,? said Eric Gomez, vice president of Golden Boy Promotions, yesterday.
Gomez said Marquez, a Golden Boy fighter, will watch the ?Invasion? card at the Big Dome, and meet Pacquiao who took away his WBC super-featherweight title last March 15 in Las Vegas.
The meeting should dwell on the possibility of a third fight.
?Hopefully,? said Gomez.
?It?s really Manny?s decision. I don?t think it?s Bob Arum?s decision. If Manny wants the rematch he?ll have it. Manny?s the boss. He can go to Bob Arum and say, ?I want Marquez,?? said Gomez.
?If Manny is not fighting Juan Manuel again it? s because he doesn?t want to. Maybe tomorrow Marquez will ask for a rematch. Maybe he will,? he added.
Pacquiao is moving up in weight and is scheduled to face WBC lightweight champion David Diaz on June 28 in Las Vegas.
Yet, Golden Boy is hoping that it?s Marquez, and not anyone else, next for Pacquiao.
How soon?
?It?s up to Manny. Marquez is ready to go. If you tell Marquez how soon can he be ready to fight Pacquiao he?ll tell you ?in a month.? He?s always in great shape. He?s been working out now,? said Gomez.
?Marquez has been working out already. He just took a one-week off. He said he?s willing to make concessions again,? added Gomez.
