‘Unfinished Business’ was big business

THE Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez grudge rematch in Las Vegas last March 16 registered a record-high pay-per-view buys among the lower weight classes in the history of boxing.

The epic rematch of both of the biggest names in the 130-pound weight category had 400,000 HBO pay-per-view sales, reaching a sweeping $20.2 million in earnings.

Mark Taffet the senior vice president of HBO?s sports operations and pay-per-view believes that formulating great fights like the Pacquiao and Marquez rematch draws a large bulk of viewers.

This by far was the Filipino superstar?s best pay-per-view sales since his matches with Erik ?El Terrible? Morales, which generated about 360,000 pay-per-view buys.

Top Rank?s Bob Arum announced recently that tickets sales of ?Unfinished Business? reached $ 3.3 million, also a first for Pacquaio.

Pacquiao won a close split decision over Marquez winning the World Boxing Council super featherweight title and the vacant Ring Magazine ?People?s Champion? straps.
