Courtesy of ALA Promotions, Filipino prospect sensations AJ ‘Bazooka’ Banal (16-0-1, 13 KOs) and Rey ‘Boom Boom’ Bautista (23-1, 13 KOs) will return to action in separate bouts on April 6!
Reigning WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight champion Rey ?Boom-Boom? Bautista and reigning WBO youth super flyweight king AJ ?Bazooka? Banal are set to wage their own wars on the under-card of the Gerry Pe?alosa vs. Ratanachi Sor Vorapin WBO battle set for April 6 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines.
Bautista (23-1, 13 KOs) will make the first defense of his intercontinental super bantamweight crown against Mexican Genaro ?Duro? Camargo. Camargo (16-3, 10 KOs) is a devastating puncher who has sent 4 of his 10 knockout victims to the mat in the first round. After his only defeat against reigning WBO super bantamweight boss Daniel Ponce de Leon in August of 2007, Bautista came back strong and a better fighter as he snatched away the WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight title from Antonio Meza in Dec 2007.
Hot prospect AJ Banal (16-0-1, 13 KOs) will slug it out with another knockout specialist when he faces off against undefeated and reigning WBC Latino super flyweight titlist Caril ?El Raton? Herrera of Uruguay. Eight years older and more experienced than Banal, Herrera (21-0, 13 KOs) is WBC No. 2 ranked contender at super flyweight. He debuted as a pro with a first round stoppage of Alejandro Lima on Aug 23, 2003 almost two years before Banal?s pro debut. The super flyweight bout will pit the two hard hitting warriors for a possible future showdown vs. WBA top ranked Martin Castillo of Mexico for divisional supremacy. Banal is currently ranked 6th by the WBA and 8th by the WBO and IBF.
The second quarter slugfest is brought to the Philippines by Golden Boy Promotions in association with ALA Promotions and the network giant ABS-CBN Broadcasting Company.
