LAS VEGAS–He does not float like a butterfly. He stings like a moth. But no one can say that gritty WBC lightweight champ David Diaz, likely to be Manny Pacquaio?s next opponent, does not have a comedic touch.
While all around him were snarling and scheming, Diaz kept it light at the postfight press conference. Bob Arum was talking about how a June 28 date for Diaz-Pacman would have to be pushed back if a plastic surgeon who stitched the Pinoy idol up after his bloody fight with Juan Manuel Marquez said so.
?It depends on the (eye) cut,? Arum said, ?and it depends on the doctor?s clearance. We have to see how fast Filipino skin heals?as opposed to Jewish skin.?
Diaz?s face was black and blue and lumped up from his undercard bout.
?Oh, come on,? Diaz said mockingly. ?You can let him fight (June 28) like that.?
That drew some honest laughs.
When journos kept asking about Pacquiao-Marquez III, Diaz threw in another funny line.
“Don’t be greedy, let me get in there.” Diaz said.
