Pacquaio-Marquez: Finish the business and get the job done

Davao City (15 March) — For Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez it is still the much awaited “Unfinished Business” until the moment of truth comes after Davao City parades with the colors and glitz of the 71st “Araw Ng Dabaw”.

This is a celebration of history, culture, colors and sports on Saturday, March 16, 2008, barely four hours before the job is all done and dispose off with in Las Vegas.

This is probably the most exciting among all thee fights of our very own Manny Pacquaio versus, 1. Marco Antonio Barrera (decisively finished in our favor) 2. Erik Morales (undeniably completed in our favor too), and Juan Manuel Marquez (still to be finished on fight night Vegas time).

When Marco Antonio Barrera got clobbered, Pacquiao has only the menacing left to rely on as a knockdown artist.

Soon after his second decisive match against Marquez, Manny has already the tried and tested stacatto of firepower of the left and right combination developed by no less than Freddie Roach, one of the world’s most respected boxing trainer.

Now, Marquez will have to face Pacquiao’s known and famous dreaded boxing arsenal.

If it is done decisively against the third and most probably the last victim, Pacquiao still has to give it the last and final deciding match in a trilogy as he had proven likewise in both Barrera and Morales.

Although the first encounter with Marquez that had the hardy Mexican fighter on his knees thrice in the canvass and the third judge’s infraction had all the boxing world craving for this return bout to decide once and for all as to who is the best in all four corners of the world and among all quartet of the world’s best pound for pound, fist for fist, stamina for stamina, so on and so forth.

A decisive, repeat of another Mexican defeat in the ring might leave no more room for doubt as to who is the most effective boxer in the 130-pounder division.

And that would leave Manny Pacquiao already inexcitable in the same weight and the next possible decision might bring our boxing hero shopping for the next level. Most likely in the category of a Mayweather.

How? That would be for the team of Freddie Roach and Buboy Fernandez to think about.

In the meantime, let’s get the job done first pound for pound and blow by blow come Saturday in the heat of the overcast cloud of the noonday sun.

Soon as we are finished doing the calistheniques of colorful sports, historic and cultural parade of the equally exciting “Araw Ng Dabaw”, the 71st edition.
