Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. fought to a majority draw on Saturday night in the main event of a boxing card at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
With the draw, Davis retained his WBA lightweight title. Two judges scored the fight a draw 114-114, and the third had it 115-113 for Davis.
Davis, a three-division titlist, was coming off an eighth-round KO of Frank Martin last June. He has nine KOs in his past 11 fights, including a seventh-round KO win over Ryan Garcia in 2023. Davis won the WBA “regular” lightweight title by stopping Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2019 and made four successful defenses before he was elevated to WBA “super” champion in January 2024.
Roach had won six consecutive fights since a unanimous decision loss to Jamel Herring for the WBC junior lightweight title in 2019 — his only title fight – before the draw against Davis.
