Aussie sensation William Kickett is ready to explode in the Philippines. Undefeated in eight pro fights, Australia?s hottest young prospect has already hammered Pinoy hopes Junmar Dulog, Jun Paderna and Rolando Gerongco and on February 2 in Cebu City he plans to crush Romeo Jakosalem (4-1, 2 KOs). Kickett and Jakosalem fight on the undercard to the IBF super-flyweight eliminator between hometown star Z Gorres and Australia?s former world flyweight king Vic Darchinyan. Kickett has been preparing for the fight by sparring the world?s top featherweight Chris John in the jungles of Indonesia and is coming to the Philippines to wreak havoc. Already labelled by legendary Aussie boxing guru Johnny Lewis as the best Aboriginal prospect since a young Lionel Rose (the great world bantamweight champ of thew 1960s) Kickett is regarded as a sure thing to win a world title by 2010. His trainer Craig Christian says Kickett will dazzle fans in the Philippines. “Cool Willie will be the big star in Cebu City,?? he said. “I reckon the fans there will be raving about his performance for a long time to come. “He has one punch knockout power and beautiful boxing skills.?? Kickett has his sights on a fight with long-time rival and former Manny Pacquiao sparring partner Lenny Zappavigna after he disposes of Jakosalem. Zappavigna spent six weeks sparring with Pacquiao in America last year before the Pac Man?s win over Jorge Solis and recently climbed off the canvas to knock out Athens Olympian Ryan Langham.
