In his crystal ball, Marco Antonio Barrera sees Juan Manuel Marquez beating Manny Pacquiao in their March 15 rematch at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
?Definitely I am with Marquez,? said Barrera, who lost to Pacquiao last October also at Mandalay Bay, in an article that came out of Mexican paper Esto.
?I believe that he is going to win. I do not say this because we are both Mexicans. I say it because boxing-wise I believe that this is going to be,? added Barrera.
The rematch between Pacquiao and Marquez, who figured in a very controversial draw in 2004, is turning out to be the most anticipated matchup so far this year.
Barrera said it?ll be worth watching.
?We are going to see a great fight. But I think Juan Manuel has the necessary arms to become the winner. Marquez is fast and intelligent. I saw the first fight that finished in a tie,? he said.
Barrera, a future Hall of Famer, said while Pacquiao brought down Marquez three times in the first round, the Mexican proved to be the better fighter the rest of the way.
?Marquez returned to the fight and I believe he deserved to win. This tiebreak is going to be the hardest for both. But I consider Marquez is going to impose his boxing (skills),? he said.
Barrera, who might come to watch the fight, said Pacquiao may be the favorite but Marquez is a very good counter-puncher and one ?who needs no advice.?
Meanwhile, Barrera has reportedly agreed to do a commercial in the Philippines like the way his countryman Erik Morales did for San Miguel Beer last year.
