Pacquiao to train in US for next fight

IT LOOKS like Cebuano boxing fans are in for a disappointment as Manny Pacquiao announced he will be training at the Wild Card Gym in the US for his much-anticipated rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez.

?I?ll start my training by the last week of December. Early next year, we will set up our training camp at the Wild Card Gym,? Pacquiao said in a report posted at Philboxing.com.

Pacquiao chose Rex ?Wakee? Salud?s gym to train for his match with Marco Antonio Barrera, and for days, fans trooped to the gym to get a glimpse of the Filipino boxing icon.

?I?ll be training for eight weeks. Most likely most of which will be in the United States,? said Pacquiao in the report.

The eight-week training will just be slightly longer than his six-week preparation for the Barrera rematch.

Earlier, Pacquiao admitted his fight with Marquez, whom he downed thrice in the first round last 2004, won?t be an easy one.

?I will need to have a serious training, so that people will be impressed with my performance,? Pacquiao said in his column.

Pacquiao also said he?ll dish out what Marquez will use against him in their rematch.

?I don?t know what style I will use on Marquez, it depends. But if he counterpunches, I will have to answer with counter punches too. Whatever he does to me that?s what I will do to him,? Pacquiao said. (EKA)
